The System Information Viewer is a simple utility that displays information about your system, including processor type, BIOS manufacturer and version, memory, operating system, and devices installed. The utility allows you to save this information in a text file. You may be asked
by Intel Customer Support to provide this information.

How to Install the System Information Viewer:

Download the SIVPKG.EXE file.
In Windows Explorer*, navigate to the directory where you downloaded the file and double-click on it. Follow the on-screen instructions to install the utility.
After installation is complete, the utility will automatically run.

To run the System Information Viewer later:

Go to the \PROGRAM FILES\INTEL\SYSTEM INFORMATION VIEWER directory from Windows Explorer, .

In response to our customers, Intel has released Beta Intel® Wireless Series Peripherals drivers for use with Microsoft* Windows* 2000. We recommend you print this Readme file to more easily follow the instructions it contains.

Note: You will need to be logged into your Microsoft Windows 2000 operating system as an "Administrator" in order to properly install the drivers.

Detailed Description:
SRW2K.EXE is a self-extracting executable that includes the files necessary to install and use the Intel® Wireless Series Peripherals on Microsoft Windows 2000. This download includes ONLY drivers at this time and does not include any Intel® Wireless Series Peripheral software.

If you have upgraded from Microsoft Windows 98, or Microsoft Windows ME, some features will work differently.
1. General
a. Family Control Panel is not supported on Microsoft Windows 2000, and will not be installed.
b. Online Help will not be available, please refer to the Troubleshooting section of your User��s Guide if issues arise.
2. Intel® Wireless Gamepad:
a. When in Mouse Mode, the Mouse Mode Icon will not appear on the device.
b. The Intel Gamepad Profile Editor, and Profile Activator are not supported on Microsoft Windows 2000, and will not be installed. The Gamepad can still be configured within any game which supports Direct Input* game controllers.
3. Intel® Wireless Mouse:
a. The Intel® Wireless Mouse will function as a normal 3-button wheel mouse. The extended configuration options available in Microsoft Windows 98 or Microsoft Windows ME are not supported.
4. Intel® Wireless Keyboard:
a. To control a media player (such as Windows Media Player*) using the multimedia keys on your keyboard, bring the media player application to the foreground by clicking on its title bar and then use the play/pause/stop and track forward/reverse keys. These keys cannot control the player application if it is not in the foreground. Further, not all media player applications support the keyboard multimedia keys. This restriction does not apply to the volume/mute and application shortcut keys.

How to Use this Patch:

1. Download SRW2K.EXE to a temporary directory on your local hard drive. Note: Make sure you remember the name of the directory to which you extract the driver files.

2. Open Windows Explorer* and browse to the temporary directory on your hard drive where the downloaded file was saved.

3. Double click on SRW2K.EXE located in the temporary directory and follow the screen prompts.

4. After the software has been installed, locate the configuration instructions below for your devices. Configure your base station first, then your peripheral device(s).

Intel® Wireless Series Base Station Accessory

1. Install SRW2K.EXE first.
2. While the computer is on, connect the Base Station to a USB port on your computer.
3. Connect the power cord to the back of the Base Station and plug it into an electrical outlet.
4. Click Start > Settings > Control Panel > Double-click the System Icon
5. Click the Hardware Tab > Click the Device Manager Button
6. Click on the plus symbol next to the USB Serial Bus Controller
7. Double-click on the USB Composite Device > Select the Driver Tab > Click Update Driver
8. The Upgrade Device Wizard will open > Click Next > Select Search for a suitable device> click Next
9. Check Specify a location > Click Next > Click Browse
10. Browse to the directory you selected when you ran SRW2K.EXE and let Windows Search for the device driver.
11. The wizard should find a driver> Click Next
12. A Digital Signature Not Found Window may appear > Click Yes
13. > Click Finish
14. Verify the Intel® Wireless Base Station device now appears under the USB tree.
Note: In step 12 if devices were previously used with the Intel® Base Station they may be detected immediately. If so please complete the installation by following the instructions for the device listed in the corresponding section below.

Intel® Wireless Series Keyboard Accessory

1. Be sure you have first installed and verified the Wireless Series Base Station. The wireless keyboard will not work without it.
2. Insert three AA batteries in the Wireless Series Keyboard.
3. Press the connect button on the battery cover of the Wireless Series Keyboard
4. Press the connect button on the front of the Base Station (the connect light will flash slowly). Wait for 1-3 minutes while the keyboard and base station communicate with each other. Once the base station detects the keyboard, the connect light on the base flashes rapidly.
5. The Windows Hardware Wizard appears to configure the keyboard.
6. The Upgrade Device Wizard will open > Click Next > Select Search for a suitable device> click Next
7. Check Specify a location > Click Next > Click Browse
8. Browse to the directory you selected when you ran SRW2K.EXE and let Windows Search for the device driver.
9. A Digital Signature Not Found Window may appear > Click Yes
10. The wizard should find a driver> Click Next > Click Finish > Restart Your Computer if Necessary
11. Verify that the Keyboard is connected. Press Start button on keyboard (lower left corner) and verify that Start menu launches.

Intel® Wireless Series Mouse Accessory

11. Verify that the Mouse is connected properly by moving it. If the pointer on the computer screen moves, it is properly connected.

This is a patched version of the HWDIAG.DLL file which allows you to work around the following Setup error: "_ins5576 caused an invalid page fault in module kernel32.dll at xxxx:xxxxxxx". Before using this patch file, check that your system meets the following system requirements:

Windows* 98
Minimum 32M RAM
200MHz processor or faster
Working USB port

This patch requires 300MB of hard disk space to execute the workaround process. If your system does not have 300MB of free hard disk space, try creating more space by cleaning up the hard disk. Run the Windows Disk Cleanup utility for help. (Go to Start/Programs/ Accessories/System Tools/Disk Cleanup.) Instructions for using the HWDIAG.DLL patch are provided in the release notes.

Intel Play QX3 Computer Microscope System Information Viewer Utility 1.3 Windows 2000/98/Me/XP.

To install the System Information Viewer:

Download the file SYSINFO.EXE.
In Windows* Explorer, browse to the folder where you had downloaded the file into and double-click on this file.
Follow the on-screen instructions to install the utility.
After installation is complete, the utility will automatically run.

To manually run the System Information Viewer utility:

From Windows Explorer, go to \PROGRAM FILES\INTEL\SYSTEM INFORMATION VIEWER folder.
Double-click on the file SIVIEW.EXE
Click on the Save button in the System Information Viewer window
In the Save As window, enter the File name: diag.txt

Intel Play Digital Movie Creator Revive Patch ver1.0 Windows XP Professional.

Apply This Patch ONLY If You Are Experiencing the Following Symptoms:

You have upgraded from Microsoft Windows* 2000 to Microsoft Windows* XP with the Intel® Play™ Digital Movie Creator already installed. Afterwards, the Intel Play Digital Movie Creator application no longer works and gives an Error 38 message:

��Your camera is not plugged in. Please connect your camera. (38)".

If you open Windows Device Manager, the ��Intel(R) Play(TM) DMC Camera�� device is listed with a ��!�� symbol next to it under the Imaging Devices category. If you open this device��s Properties, the Device status reports the error message:

��The drivers for this device are not installed. (Code 28) To reinstall the drivers for this device, click Reinstall Driver.��

However, clicking on the Reinstall Driver button and selecting ��Install the software automatically (Recommended)�� results in a box titled ��Cannot Install this Hardware�� which reports the following error message:

��There was a problem installing this hardware: Intel(R) Play(TM) DMC Camera �C An error occurred during the installation of the device �C The class installer has denied the request to install or upgrade this device -- Click Finish to close the wizard.��

If you instead try to Uninstall this device, a window titled ��Device Manager�� appears reporting the following error message:

��Failed to uninstall the device. The device may be required to bootup the computer.��

Who Should Download And Install This Patch:

Customers who have upgraded their computer from Microsoft Windows* 2000 to Microsoft Windows* XP, with the Intel® Play™ Digital Movie Creator already installed.

This patch is NOT NEEDED for customers who have upgraded from Windows 98/98SE/ME to Windows XP with the Intel® Play™ Digital Movie Creator already installed. Instead, the Intel Play Digital Movie Creator software should be uninstalled and reinstalled on these computers.

This patch is NOT NEEDED for customers who have upgraded to Windows XP and have not yet installed the Intel Play Digital Movie Creator. This issue only occurs if the Intel Play Digital Movie Creator was already installed when the computer was upgraded from Windows 2000 to Windows XP.

How To Apply This Patch:

1. Create a temporary folder on your hard drive and download the REVIVE.EXE file into this folder.
2. Double-click on the REVIVE.EXE file to extracts its three files into the temporary folder. These files are REVIVEDMC.EXE, REVIVEDMC.INF, and REVIVEDMC.TXT.
3. Double-click on the REVIVEDMC.EXE file to run this file. A box will appear and should show that the Digital Movie Creator service was successfully revived. When prompted, press Enter to end the program.
4. Physically unplug the Digital Movie Creator camera from the computer by removing the camera from its base.
5. Uninstall the Digital Movie Creator software by clicking on Start > Programs > Intel Play Digital Movie Creator > Install �C Modify Digital Movie Creator. Then select Remove all installed components.
6. Reinstall the Digital Movie Creator software
7. Physically connect the Digital Movie Creator camera to the computer by reseating the camera into its base.
8. Run the Digital Movie Creator application. When the Audio Setup Wizard will appear, select the appropriate microphone that you want the application to use when recording audio. You have the option of choosing the Digital Movie Creator camera or your computer��s soundcard. Click OK.
9. If you are still getting Error 38 in the Digital Movie Creator application, perform these additional steps:
a. Exit the Digital Movie Creator application
b. Open Windows Device Manager by doing the following: right-click on My Computer icon, left-click on Properties, click on the Hardware tab, click on the Device Manager button.
c. Double-click on the ��Intel(R) Play(TM) DMC Camera�� device, which is listed under Imaging Devices.
d. Click on the ��Reinstall Driver�� button and select ��Install the software automatically (Recommended).�� This should successfully reinstall the driver. When prompted, click Finish.
e. Close all open windows. You should be able to run the Digital Movie Creator application without Error 38 appearing.
10. You can delete the temporary folder that you had created in Step 1.
