1. Download and extract the CmdTool2.exe, dos4gw.exe and update.bat files to a local drive.
2. Download and extract the firmware binary file to a local drive.
3. Boot the target system to DOS.
4. Change directory to the local drive and directory containing the flash update files and the firmware image file.
5. Type "update" or "cmdtool2 -adpfwflash -f sasfw211.rom -aall"
6. Wait for the flash to complete. Do NOT reboot the system during the update.

Windows and Linux
-----------------
The firmware update may be run from Within Windows or Linux using the appropriate versions of CmdTool2.
In Windows, unzip the utility into the same directory as the rom file by typing
"cmdtool2 -adpfwflash -f sasfw211.rom -aall".
The Linux CmdTool2 by running the rpm and then calling the utility from /opt/MegaRAID/CmdTool2 as
"./CmdTool2 -AdpFwFlash -f sasfw211.rom -aall"

Common to All OS:
------------

Multiple controllers installed in the same system can be updated one after the other by following the onscreen prompts.

IMPORTANT NOTE: After the firmware upgrade, reboot the system and login to RAID BIOS Console. Select the controller and select 'Adapter Properties'->'Next'. Set the 'Set Factory Defaults' setting to 'Yes' and submit the change. Reboot the system and re-configure to your desired settings in RAID BIOS Console or RAID Web Console2.

Upgrade Installation Instructions:

1.Unzip all of the files from the zip package onto EFI shell readable media (floppy, USB key, or CD), maintaining the directory structure.

Note: This update will flash ALL devices in the system of the same type as the onboard - care should be taken to remove any 'like' devices if this is not the desired result. POST time will be improved if no other drives are attached to the server.

2. Boot to the EFI shell, change drive and directory location to where you unzipped the package (usb key will likely be named fs0, so should get to the root of that drive) and type in the name of the batch file that matches your board model:
basasupd.nsh NSC2U with LSI SAS1068 controller
hmsasupd.nsh TIGW1U with LSI SAS1068 controller

3. Reboot and confirm the OpROM/FW versions (depending on mode) and drives listed.

This is the Scan Utility for Technical Advisory TA-551-1.

Intel has provided a DOS (HECVER.EXE), or Windows 2000* (HECWIN2K.EXE) based utility to scan the server board for the appropriate board and sensor chip revisions.

If a rev 4 ADM1026 chip is detected on a revision �C607 board, the utilities will display ��Not affected by manufacturing excursion��.

If a rev 7 ADM1026 chip is detected on a �C607 board, the utilities will display the board PBA number, board serial number, the revision of the ADM1026 chip; this system should be sent back to Intel for replacement.

Instructions:

1. Prepare a blank-formatted floppy disk. Make this a bootable disk.

2. Download the file into a temporary directory (e.g. c:\temp).

3. Run the excutable file and extract the files to the floppy disk.

4. Boot off the floppy disk on your server.
